About Me

I am a developer with passion for DevOps and an interest in Cloud engineering. I have a background in web development, which I learned in university when I studied at KU Leuven. Here are a few technologies I've been working with:
  • Kubernetes
  • Java
  • AEM
  • Spring Boot
  • AWS
  • Jenkins
  • Golang
  • Docker
  • ArgoCD
  • FluxCD
  • Terraform

Experience

AEM Developer - Amexio Belgium
Jan 2024 - present
I am currently working as AEM Developer / DevOps engineer on the Mediafin project. My team is responsible for the website of De Tijd en L’Echo (Belgian newspapers).
DevOps/Cloud engineer - ACA Group
Jul 2022 - Dec 2023

I am currently working as a DevOps and cloud engineer for ACA.

Projects:

  • Consultant at Cegeka in the DevOps/tooling team. Responsible for maintenance of GitOps working, Jenkins pipelines and the platform.
  • GitOps rollout within ACA using FluxCD
  • General oncall for various AWS projects
  • Setup of AWS projects
AEM Developer - Acolad Digital
Sep 2019 - Jun 2022

In my first paid position I started as an AEM developer in the Acolad team at KBC. We were responsible for the devlopment of all components needed for the different KBC websites. Next to ‘regular’ AEM development I also started working with Kubernetes and microservices as well as some DevOps work.

Projects:

  • NGINX Caching layer: Goal of the project was implementing a caching layer for the KBC mobile app. The setup was done using NGINX which was deployed within an Openshift kubernetes cluster.
  • Intel to M1 migration: Goal of the project was to update the local development environment to be compatible with the new M1 Macbooks I was responsible for the implementation.
  • CachPoint branch locator: Goal of the project was to include the new CashPoint locations in the branch locator on the KBC websites. I was responsible for the architecture and implementation, the data was received through an S3 bucket, which was then polled by a Spring Boot microservice.
  • Form Submit: Goal of the project was reworking the form submissions on the KBC site to be gdpr compliant. A PostgreSQL database was used to store userdata temporarily, a Spring Boot application was used to process form submits. I was responsible for development of front- and backend of the main navigation.
  • Rework main menu kbc.be: Goal of the project was to create a responsive dropdown menu for the website of KBC. I was responsible for development of front- and backend of the main navigation.
  • Release automation: Goal of the project was implementing a CI/CD pipeline for deployments of AEM code at KBC. The pipelines were setup in Jenkins and deploys were orchestrated using Ansible.
Head of electronics - Formula Electric Belgium
Aug 2018 - Aug 2019

Formula Electric Belgium is a student team which designs and builds an electric racecar in one year.

As head of electronics I was responsible for the workings of the entire electronics team. We designed our own high-voltage battery, control unit, telemetry and data system.

Education

2017 - 2019
Master of Industrial Engineering - Electronics/ICT
KU Leuven, campus Group T

Within the master electronics-ICT I chose to specialize in web development.

A master at Group T is normally 1 year, but I combined my master with my postgraduate.

2017 - 2019
Postgraduate programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship for engineers
KU Leuven, campus Group T
This postgraduate was combined with my masters degree. As a part of the programme I joined the Formula Electric Belgium student team in which we designed and build an electric racecar.
2014 - 2017
Bachelor of Industrial Engineering
KU Leuven, campus Group T

Projects

Personal AWS infrastructure
AWS Terraform Docker
Personal AWS infrastructure
To host some websites (eg. this one) together with some docker images and other applications I use a combination of multile AWS services. All resources in AWS are managed in a private Terraform repository, which uses Terraform cloud to apply everything in AWS. I set up an EC2 instance with docker setup to run different services (eg. a mail server in combination with SES, EV notification, Traefik, ...) All DNS entries for my hostnames are managed in Route53. Some S3 buckets are used for static website hosting (like this one) and as a back-up for the pictures I take.
NodeJs
Request dump
A NodeJs project that can be used to debug requests send from an application without the need to post to a third party tool. Specifically useful for use in professional projects where data shouldn't be posted to the internet.
